Texas Contractor License Requirements

To obtain a Texas electrical license, you must first:

  • Obtain your compensation insurance.
  • Fill in the complete application form
  • You will need to pay $110 as well as an application fee.

License Bond

In Texas, people who apply for a municipal license will need a license bond. The license bond is to be sure that you will do your job on time and without scams. The cost of such a bond may vary depending on where you live. Generally, it is between $5,000 and $25,000.

You will need to pay some percent of your bond in advance.

Texas Contractor License Renewal

Generally, all types of licenses are valid for a year in Texas.

Before you apply to renew your license, you will need to pass a continuing education course. For General Contractors, the date can be different. It is based on the city they work in.

And, sure, you will have to pay $110 to renew your license.
